FS: Pat O’Riordan D anodized aluminum whistle, EBay

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Pat-O-Riordan-Irish-Whistle-/184700497026 Hi. This is an O’Riordan anodized aluminum D whistle, signed and dated 2005. The tone is very clear and pure. It’s fairly loud, so is an excellent session whistle. It speaks easily in both registers and the intonation is excellent. T...

Mon, Tues & more

Hi! Monday/Tuesday work for me - actually any day does, since I'll be listening only (no classes this year). There are both a.m. and p.m. classes at The Carousel, (usually McGratten & Claudy, all flute!) but my room & porch are in the back building, so we *probably* wouldn't disturb anyone ;...

The dark side

I'm in.

You're not evil, but a force for good!

Did you say Gilbert & Sullivan? Now THAT would be a hoot. My room at The Carousel Inn has a porch where we can practice our dark art. No one seems to mind. And the more the merrier!

See you soon -

My Dad quit cigars & pipes cold turkey because he was promised a computer if he could do it. He never looked back, and now has a garage full of happy computer gear.

Promise yourself that whistle of your dreams. You'll even have the breath to use it. Best of luck!!

Oh, "fie." I record with a Sony hand held cassette deck and no additional mike. And I STILL feel that it sounds lacking due to nothing but my own playing!

Argh!

Hi! Come to the Monday night session at Nanny O'Brien's in DC. It's been going on for ages. It's accessible by Metro. Here's their website: http://www.nannyobriens.com/ It was big this past week - 10 fiddles, 3 or 4 flutes, couple of guitars/bouzoukis (sp?), couple of whistles, a harp, a piper - but...

Please, could the political discussion be taken to a political thread? Thanks.

Hope the auction's going well. I'm glad they were so excited to be asked to play. They'll get to meet so many different people they wouldn't meet otherwise through playing.

Good luck!

Hi. I too am a visual learner. Don't worry, it's OK! The method that I've settled on is to first get the tune from hearing it, whether from CD, class or session (tape it). I never start from sheet music. That way it goes into your brain through the ears first, not the eyes. I then transcribe the tun...

Hi. Yes, I have one, on a Pratten-based Olwell. I love it because to me, it has more of a "wood-like" sound. Also, it is lighter in the head end and I much prefer that for balance. Patrick said that a major difference is volume - it doesn't honk as loudly as a flute with lined head joint. ...

I would love to play some duets! Audrey and I played classical flute duets and messed about on my cello one night. (Then we had a contest to see which was the loudest & most obnoxious, fife or piccolo. Picc won, just barely.) I don't want to give up any kind of music. Listened to U2 live full bl...

Hi guys. Thanks for being such good pals at the musical binge. It was a wonderful time! It was great to see you all in person, and also Cara and Scott and Blaine. Everyone was so nice. I have severe tone envy of Cara, but will be working hard to catch up (maybe someday?)! I just learned "Mary G...
