I won't be able to make it, either. :( I was planning on coming, but my brother decided to come into town this weekend to introduce his girlfriend--the introduction before the engagement, most likely--so I wasn't allowed to miss it. :( I hope you all have a great time, and I hope to be at the next o...

Yeah, Justine, I'd love to see you again! And all of you! You're all great, and worth the drive!

The costume thing is easy to mistake, you see, as it is often difficult for people to tell that I'm NOT in a costume, as I can be so horrifying. Okay. No. I'm lying. People usually just laugh.

I haven't checked the board in ages and ages and ages, but got wind of this. I'm thinking about attempting it. It's a bit of a drive for me, but I like driving, and it hits the tail end of my spring break, so I might make it... just a little heads-up for you all to prepare yourselves in case I do. ;)

Thomastik makes several sets of strings that would probably be a good choice to go for. Depending on what you want to spend for your strings, you can get regular Dominants, which really are great all around strings. I see you're in California, so I'd recommend trying out www.swstrings.com . I always...

Seeking people near Ithaca, NY

I'm going to be in Ithaca for a month, starting Thursday, and was wondering a couple things. First, I can find references to sessions several places on the internet, including the Session and elsewhere here on C&F. But I can't find anything specific and current about times and locations. Can any...

Well, I think I'm scared away. Yeah, but you don't count. Cause I've been trying to scare you away, see? That's different. Is it working? Where's the Treet...then again, you're the one who brought all that stuff up. And the brains in milk gravy or whatever. Heaven forbid, maybe these people really ...

First of all, I just want to say thanks, Walden, for posting something so kind and thoughtful. I'm sorry it's turned into something less pure than its original intent. And Weeks, we all miss you! I hope you stop by again. I won't comment on the negative comments that were said beyond one statement: ...

I've ridden "The Beast" many a time. It is ROUGH (as in shaking you all over the place). That's my favorite roller coaster ever! I went several years ago (about 6) during a weekday. I don't know if it was the weather, or if there was something else going on somewhere, but there was hardly...

But Walden is a frog! ;) Don't worry, Walden, I won't throw you against a wall.

But yay!!! You should start fiddle! Then I'll have another addiction to chat with you about! Yes! It's decided, you're learning fiddle!

Your daughter is so cute, Jessie! I've been curious to see another picture of her and see how she's been growing up. :) I have another picture of a CP to contribute--none other than the board's beloved Mr. Walden himself! http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y163/karinakus/bearcap.jpg See, Walden, you'r...

Kind of an odd coincidence, I wouldn't have known about this condition, but it randomly came up in conversation with a senior friend of mine last week. She was telling me about her trigger finger problem. She had been almost unable to close all the fingers on her hand, but went to the doctor and he ...

These things really intrigue me. What are some reasons a fiddler might play an electric vs. acoustic other than volume control for practice? Effects pedals. :) Hehe...while I definitely prefer "hard core" Irish trad myself (I have my electric for playing at church and with a band, not for...

Hi Mark! Well, I have a Zeta, so I haven't tried the Yamaha. But I've heard nothing but rave reviews about them, and actually considered getting one myself. As far as electrics and the volume go, it could be really great for learning quietly. Assuming it plays similarly to the way mine plays, it is ...
