Keeping the pipes warm

Winter has come early to the Northeast part of the United States. Temps expected to drop to the mid 20 (F) degree mark the next couple of days. I have to carry the pipes with me after work to a different part of New York City for my weekly lesson. Im worried about them getting too cold, and I am thi...

Peterson Stroboflip Tuner

I just purchased a Peterson Stroboflip tuner to tune my pipes. The instructions have me totally confused and I am extremely frustrated. I am ready to return the unit to the store for a refund. The manual gives instructions on how to use the tuner to tune uilleann pipes but they are extremely brief a...

Sorry for the capital letters. I had sent the first post through my blackberry and didnt realize the cap lock button was on. However, I don't think that the use of capital letters deserved that type of response. I would have expected better behavior.

Bag Replacement

My L&M bag just started leaking a few weeks ago. It was only 7 years old. I placed a call to L&M and they told me that is the average life expectancy for a bag nowadays. I say sh*t to that.

I would stay away from the velvet. The material is too "slippery" and my velvet bag tended to slide down away from my arm.

I have both the corduroy and micro suede covers and both are equally as good. The corduroy has a slight edge because it is easier to put on and take off of the bag.

Leak in Seam Bag

I just did a "bubble test" and it confirmed my suspicions that my L&M bag is badly leaking along the back seam. The bag is fairly new; it was made in 2002. Ive asked my pipemaker for a replacement bag, but I know that there is a supply problem with the L&M bags. What can I do in th...

This is a good topic. I have a new bellows coming my way and I be putting my existing bellows into storage. Is there something I can do with the leather to prevent dry rot?

The infamous Ennis chanter

I believe that someone told me that O'Flynn played Ennis' chanter on one of his CDs before the chanter was "modified".

Is this true? I'm guessing that it was on his "Fine Art of Piping" album, but would like verification. Thanks.

Shoulder Straps

I play a right-handed set of pipes and I am experimenting with the use of a shoulder strap. One thing that I am trying to figure out is where/how I attach the strap to the pipes. Can any one offer up any suggestions? Also, I always assumed that the strap went over the left shoulder. Yet I noticed on...

Do Regulators make good kindling?

I've posted this question on here before, but have never received a satisfactory response. I'm going to try one more time before I snap my f**ing regulators over my knee and throw them into my fireplace. Ive been playing my full set now for five years and I am trying my best to learn to play the reg...

Vpipes

Im hearing some pretty good things about them. Not in production yet, will cost about 1,000 euro when they first come out. A nice clip of Cillian Vallely playing one on www.vpipes.com

I guess everyone is too interested in learning what a piper should drink to get himself bombed while playing, instead of helping me by answering my question.
