The First of May hornpipe

Does anybody knows if the hornpipe The First of May is related with the events in Chicago on May, 1st 1886 ?

Re: Our piping friends in Japan

I met Gerry last year in Tokyo and I'm relieved to read good news about him. Thanks for sharing it.

Re: Renaissance music on the uilleann pipes

Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn is playing a wonderful uilleann-pipe version of Handel's Gigue for Keyboard in G, on his album Ceol is píob.

Sometimes, I like to play others tunes better, but I would say my all-time favourite is The Black Rogue.

Thank you very much everybody for your advice. I will check today instruments repairers as Pipewort suggested. As UP are not common in Japan, I just hope they won't be afraid of an unknown and weird instrument.

Broken regulator's key

I own a Dave Williams D set and I unfortunately broke the B key of the bass regulator. The broken part is the small pin holding the spring/blade which keep the key closed. I have no idea if it can be repaired or if I need to order a whole new key. So I wonder, which pipe-maker, making keys in the si...

No, I was surprised at what The Sporting Pitchfork wrote about this pub owner.
I'm not surprised at all there are places far from everything in Japan.
Anyway, though I'm in Nagoya, I don't go often to Tokyo neither.

I'm still in Nagoya :D
Anyway, it's surprising to read that, as there some pipers in the Kansai area, and even a tin-whistles/pipe-maker in Kyoto.

Looking for hi-res Seamus Ennis pictures

I'm currently writing an article for a french magazine about fayrie tales and irish music, so I'm looking for a hi-resolution (300dpi) picture of Seamus Ennis, preferably a portrait. If you have some, please PM me. And if someone happens to have this old record where there are three pictures of him ...

Why not speed things up and do something during summer vacation in August? Or maybe during Obon? In August, especially in Obon, it would be almost impossible to rent a place for the Tionol, not speaking of accomodations which are already all reserved. And it's far more expensive too. So September i...

Yatta! Omedeto Matsuzaka-san!
That's very good news. We have a pipe-maker in Japan at least! Now all we need is a tionol to hear and try Matsuzaka's chanter ;-)

If you can organize a tionol there, you will have a (the?) piper from Nagoya with you.
