WTB: Flute (preferably keyed) Location: near N. Germany

Hi folks, Thought it might be worth posting a "wanted" ad here, in case there's anyone wanting to sell a flute and who is based in Northern Germany (since I'd like to try before I buy...). What I'm looking for: - Ideally, a fully-keyed, loud session flute - If the "loud" and &quo...

Re: Eb key? Anyone use it?

Funny, I'd always thought the Eb key was either a) For tuning, like on a Boehm flute b) A joke by makers to distinguish novice first-time buyers from serious amateurs Then again, Grey Larsen uses an Eb beautifully on Walls of Liscarroll (technically a D# since it's a Dmix tune I guess) and there's a...

Re: 5 Tunes you Hate

I find I stop disliking tunes just about the first time I hear them played properly.

(I bet I could even get to like Tam Linn if I ever heard it played so that it didn't sound like someone practising arpeggios.)

Re: FS: David Daye 3/8 Set + Leather Bag + Hard Case

Hi Marcus! Many thanks for the add to the Swedish list – it would of course be easier to ship within Europe. Just to confirm though, this is a "half-finished" 3/8 set if that makes sense. It's not the finished set which David sells for the price you mention but the "easy kit" (72...

FS: Di-Zi and course of instruction

While I am at it, another offer: Tim Liu's (http://www.2measures.com/) Di-Zi instructional course and C/G Di-Zi. Also hardly touched, original cost USD 259, I'm happy to let it go for USD 150 and free standard shipping worldwide (any extra shipping insurance required is at buyer's cost). Information...

FS: David Daye 3/8 Set -"Easy Kit" + ... SOLD

Hi Folks, I have a hardly-touched Daye set needing a new home where it will actually be played. The set is 3/8 + leather bag and hard case. The set was originally the "Easy Kit" and is completed as far as being completely playable but I have not touched the "decorative" stuff (ba...

Re: First chanter

... The reed should be open enough for the low D to "come" without the gargle/autocran but close enough for the high B to "come" easily and NOT "fall down" (with your "secure" fingering, that is). A shiftable bridle is IMO important to always guarantee this i...

FS: Technopipes in Galician fingering style

Hi Folks, Title says it all. I have a nearly-new set of Technopipes I bought in January 2008 that I would like to find a new home for. I have only played with them on and off but not enough to merit keeping them permanently. I would therefore like to give someone else the chance of owning them at a ...

Re: Anyone seen the Tyros3?

Whistle players can always opt for the Technopipes from Fagerström: http://www.technopipes.com/ I actually have a Galician one of these I'm looking to send to a good home (I'll post it on the Used Instruments page anon). The Galician open fingering is almost identical to tin whistle. And you get dro...

Re: bad idea to branch out to silver flute?

The only effect on embouchure I have noted has been positive. One flute I play is the Burns Folk Flute and this has a slightly smaller and more "ovoid" embouchure, meaning that it needs to be played tighter. It's a bit like the flute/piccolo combo - playing picc certainly improved my embou...

Is it me or the (low) whistle?

Hi Folks, Just acquired a new low whistle - I'll won't mention the maker just yet - and am very pleased with the low register and the next notes up to high G. However, both the high A and the B are very flat (and thus almost impossible to "bend back up" by increasing air pressure), and I a...

Re: MK Low Whistles

There's an MK on ebay at the moment: http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130283746514&_trksid=p3907.m32&_trkparms=tab%3DWatching If it stays where it is (100 EUR) it might be a catch. (And no, I am NOT the seller!) Bill's point about kerrywhistles is a great tip - the site ...
