Oh, we've heard it all right. According to the genious who said that, Noel Hill, Mary Bergin, Yehudi Menuhin, Larry Nugent, just about every major classical soloist and conductor, a large number of Nobel prizewinners, along with Bill Whedon can't. Now four of five of them might be believable but all of them?

In keeping with the new decorum, let me say to whoever it was who first spewed up that cliche and all the lame tossers who repeat it seriously, and I mean this in the nicest possible way: it's running down yer leg, dearie.

Hey, is this thread still alive yet, then?
Nope. We buried the thread and now we're dancing on the grave.

If it weren't such a terrible loss to the world, I think I'd shoot myself the next time I hear someone say "I resemble that remark" instead of "I resent that remark." Sigh.

Oh, yeah: also a mod here, not a spammer. A matter of opinion, perhaps.

Means two different things, though.

"I resent that remark" means exactly what it sounds like, but, at least down here in the South, "I resemble that remark" is a funny way of saying "guilty as charged."

No, you're confusing it with
Nyah Nyah Nyah Nyah!

I think "resemble" is from one of the Marx Brothers: Karl, Lenin or Trotsky. I'm not sure which one. Harpo, maybe.

Careful Glauber; the Marx Brothers are inviolate. There's George Carlin and the Marx Brothers; then, there's the rest of us. Sorry Bloomie...
