that's the critical portion right there...anyone unhappy with having to do un-pipe-y stuff
will need to find another kvetchpoint;
flip side: anyone looking to pickup the odd studio layover is pretty much out of luck.

As a former guitarist and horn player, I can say without reservation that your average jobbing keyboard player with a music degree will do anything and I mean ANYTHING for $40...or a diet coke (thanks, Lisa Lampanelli!).

I don't know what to think. I'm still recovering from Mr. D'Arcy's "By Dougal Possessed" avatar. :-D

Although I must admit I'm struck by the irony of the name.

ty·ro /ˈtaɪroʊ/ [tahy-roh]
–noun, plural -ros.
a beginner in learning anything; novice.
Also, tiro.

[Origin: 1605–15; < L tīrō recruit]

—Related forms
ty·ron·ic /taɪˈrɒnɪk/ [tahy-ron-ik] , adjective

—Synonyms neophyte, learner.

Well, the sound is okey. This player in the video uses so-called VST's. A VST is a virtual instrument that is mostly recorded once from a real instrument and can now be used as a sampled one. The sound is very realistic (not a strange thing when its recorded from a real instrument) and kills all the keyboard and midi sounds out there.

I compose orchestral music for my band and for myself so I wanted to have the most realistic option without having to record a real orchestra.

So there are VST's for almost every instrument. For Orchestra instruments, ethnic instruments, guitars, drums and so on.

Well, here you can download a composition of me called "A breath of Ireland" where I use Bodhran, Uilleann Pipes and Orchestra Vst's.

click on "download".

Whistle players can always opt for the Technopipes from Fagerström:

I actually have a Galician one of these I'm looking to send to a good home (I'll post it on the Used Instruments page anon). The Galician open fingering is almost identical to tin whistle.

And you get drones!

(I'm selling mine to fund a UP practice set ;-))

Cyberpiper has done it.

I saw his act at Piping Live a couple of years ago, before I saw it i would have sworn I would have hated it, but after seeing it, it was obvious the amount of time, effort and skill he put into it and I actually enjoyed it.

Yes. I dare.
