Sometimes a wet rag will help the reed respond better and sometimes make the situation seem worse than it is. I am hoping that the auction goes great!

way more. the chanter would be worth more than that on a direct purchase and this will be a charity auction.

good luck

koehler chanter

Post by maze »

fyi,
i have a pretty close version of this stick from benedict, as does jerry. at the catskills recently i got a great chance to play with kara and skip who both have the same model of this chanter (theirs are measured from mick's o'brien's rowsome, mine and jerry's from cillian vallely's rowsome)... beautiful chanters, particularly in the hands of benedict, kara, jerry, or skip... if i hadn't already have one of these, i would be going all out on the bidding. best gosh danged thing i have ever played in all honesty.

great video of benedict, but i assure you, the tuning is spot on, and the hard d is solid.

happy bidding

I think Wizzer will let us know when it goes live. Until then you can peruse a fine selection of other Koehler merchandise

Sorry for the delay: We are having some trouble with eBay getting it set up as soon as we have it worked out I will post the link.
Sorry for the delay:
We had some other items up that I bid on and since I was also the contact for items so eBay has put a hold on our auction. We are in the process of setting it up with another contact and hopefully that will be complete soon.

Knock yourselves out as this is a good cause and a chance to own a fine instrument.

glands: What do you mean by "student model" or "practice set chanter"? Because it has only 2 keys? or because the mounts are integral with the chanter? I actually like that look. Is there something inherently better either functionally or structurally about having non-integral mounts?

Thanks.

a large majority of the sticks benedict is making these days are turned with these kinds of mounts.. no other material added. i have only seen one of late by benedict alone that had mounts.. the one played by skip... otherwise kara's, jerry's, mine, etc. all look identical to this one...

then again, i suppose i qualify as a perpetual "student" of the pipes... so all of my gear is student gear.. so the honerable doctor does have a point.

no reason that mounts couldn't be added later i suppose. either way, these sticks are amazing to play and listen to ... to me that is what matters in the end anyway.

... not to say that i dont enviously admire the visual aesthetics of that beehivey masterpiece of yours!

Didn't Tim Britton eliminate mounts from his chanter design a long time ago? It is very expedient.
